About Lakes Gospel Choir Concert
Join us for a fantastic night of gospel singing with the Lakes Gospel Choir one of Cumbria’s foremost choirs.
The Lakes Gospel Choir, founded in 2003, has been based in the Windermere area of the English Lake District for many years.
It is a non-profit community choir and benefits from registered charity status. Although exclusively Christian in ethos and foundation, both Christians and non-Christians join together within the Choir to experience the common joy of singing and the power of the Gospel message.

Our Vision
Where faith grows we will be …...
more inviting of our communities,
more connected to each other,
more touched by inspired worship and
more involving of families and children.
We will develop buildings that provide accessible, comfortable,
exciting and reflective places for all to discover God’s love.
Christ Church is a member of the Eco Church Community led by A Rocha UK’s award scheme for churches in England and Wales who want to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth. Having gained the bronze level award in 2022 Christ Church is now working towards Silver Level and hope to apply for this in Summer 2023. Being part of Eco Church will help guide us on our way to becoming Net Zero by 2030. For more information visit the Eco Church website
As a church we want to show that we are concerned at the way animals are treated. We have audited the products we use in looking after our church and in serving refreshments to make sure they are not tested on animals and are not grown using herbicides or pesticides. Having done this we have been accepted into the Anglican Society for the Welfare of Animals
So that our Sunday services are open to all, we are unable to accommodate dogs and other pets however we do welcome guide dogs. We do hold an annual pet service in Harris Park, please get in touch if you would like to know more.
Winter Thermal Tent
To reduce our winter energy use and improve comfort we have installed a thermal tent across the galley and chancel. We plan to keep this in place through the winter months into the Spring of 2023. This idea has sparked quite a bit of interest and has been featured on Border TV on Radio Cumbria and Premier Christian radio.
Before we installed the tent we couldn't get the church above 14c at seating height even with an outdoor temperature of around 10c. Since installing the tent we have been able to attain temperatures of over 20c even with outside temperatures of -5c. Once the room is at the target temperature 16-18c depending on the event or activity the heating often trips out for periods thus saving us cost and reducing our carbon footprint.
The sheeting is flame retardant and normally used for cladding scaffolding. We used market stall spring clamps every 1.5m to attach the sheeting to the gallery shelf and built a vertical sheeting clad timber frame to seal off the sanctuary.
We took the tent down in June 2023 and expect to install it again in Late September/October 2023 depending upon forecast outside temperatures. It will then remain in place through the winter until late May/June 2024.
